Ms. Ruth Washington, 76, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Ms. Ruth C. Washington, daughter of the late Annie Mae Brown; raised by the late Robersena and Esau Canty, was born September 25, 1944 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She departed this life on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Ruth graduated from Bonds Wilson High School, Class of 1963. She also earned an associates degree from Trident Technical College in the Medical Assistance Program. For nearly two decades Ruth was employed with the Franklin C. Fetter Family Health Center and later retired from the Medical University of South Carolina.
A devoted Christian, at an early age she worshipped at Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church and later joined Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. Ruth served on the Christian Ministry, the Pastor’s Aide Board, Feed the Hungry Ministry and the Senior Choir.
As a pass time, she enjoyed baking, sewing, as well as arts and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Daniel (Alma) Brown, Earnest (Sherry) Dessasure; and her brother-in-law Lonnie Hoefer.
Ruth leaves in memory a devoted son, Brian Sims Washington; and a devoted grandson, Carson Sims Washington of the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area; siblings: James (Evelyn) Desaussure, Annie Hoefer, Verdell (Joseph) Mack, and Murdell (Jerome) Richardson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
