Magdalena Ramos DeCastrejon

July 31, 1933 ~ November 12, 2021 (age 88)

Obituary

Magdalena Ramos Castrejon passed away at Roper St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina due to COVID-19 on November 12, 2021. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and wife with three sons, three daughter-in-laws, eighteen grandchildren, and thirty-seven great-grandchildren.

Born on July 31, 1933 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to Eduardo Ramos Muzquiz and Minerva Munoz Buentello, Magdalena Ramos lived a long and healthy life dedicated to her family.

She met her husband, Norberto Castrejon Penaloza, in Acapulco, Mexico one day when he heard her singing by her window as he was painting on the street below. They met again years later when they were officially introduced by a mutual friend, and from that moment it was history. They were married in January 1953, and lived a happy and loving life together, raising three boys - Norberto Eduardo Jr., Victor Manuel, and Sergio Ricardo.

Magdalena was always dedicated to her family. It was important to her that she raised her boys to be polite, well-mannered, and with strong morals; but she was not overly strict - in fact, she spoiled them. Magdalena dearly loved her husband; their hobbies including fishing and hunting, running a school supply store together, and spending time with their boys. When he passed away in 1980 she never remarried, but chose to honor and remember him for the rest of her life.

After her husband passed, Magdalena spent her life with her sons and grandchildren (and then great-grandchildren). She loved teaching the children to play card games and loteria. Most recently, she spent the last years of her life in Charleston, South Carolina, living with her son Norberto and his wife Guadalupe, and spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren living nearby, as well as with the close friends in her church.

Magdalena Ramos Castrejon will be greatly missed; she is survived by her two sons Norberto Jr. and Victor Manuel, as well her family in Texas, Canada, South Carolina, and Mexico. She was dearly loved by her family, extended family, and lifelong friends, and they are so grateful for the time they had to spend with her.
