Mr. Kenneth Smalls, 69, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 8, 2020. Born to the late Deacon Charles and Ferlise Smalls on July 9, 1951 in Charleston, SC.
Kenneth graduated from C.A. Brown High School in 1969. Shortly after, he joined the United States Navy, where he served honorably for two years during the Vietnam War on the USSN Cone. After being honorably discharged, Kenneth went on to attend Trident Technical College to study accounting and entered into the apprentice program at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a welder. He continued to work as a welder for 30 years and retired in 2013 from Triangle Ice.
Despite traveling the world during his time in the Navy, Kenneth was a true Charlestonian. He grew up and was a life long member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. In 1985, he became an ordained deacon under Reverend Abraham Gold. He also sang on the Male Choir and the Young Adult Choir. Kenneth loved fishing, bowling, but most of all he loved faithfully reading his Bible.
Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory: four children Shawn Cohen (Lester), Kevin Smalls (Antionette), Lakisha Smalls-Farr (Jamal), and Lauren Smalls; grandsons Lester Cohen Jr., and Julian Farr; siblings Charles Smalls Jr., Patricia Smalls, Reginald Smalls, Ronald Smalls (Kim); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his Memorial Missionary Baptist Church Family and friends.
