The relatives and friends of Mrs. Geraldine Yates are invited to attend her Graveside Service 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC. A public viewing will be held from 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM, Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the mortuary.
Mrs. Geraldine Virginia Yates, age 69, completed her earthly assignment on November 3, 2020. She was born January 21st, 1951 in Charleston, South Carolina to Richard and Elizabeth Cash who preceded her in death. Geraldine graduated from C.A. Brown High School in Charleston, South Carolina in 1969. After graduating, she joined the Women’s Army Corps of the United States Army in 1971 where she served for 20 years, retiring as an SSGT. Additionally, she served another 20 years in the Federal Government. She was known for spreading the gospel even in her time in military service. She always made time to share her love of Jesus with everyone she met because she never met a stranger. She accepted Christ at an early age and became an ordained Evangelist in 1993.
In her free time, Geraldine enjoyed reading and interior design. She will always be known for her grace, love of people, and fondness of her dearest friendships.
She leaves to cherish her memories with her husband of 41 years, Marvin Anthony Yates. Her love and wisdom lives on in the hearts of her five children; Teisha Russell, Teya McMillian, Tiffany (Timothy) Yates-Robinson, Patrick Anthony “Tony” Yates, Shawnell Yates; as well as five grandchildren, Joshua McMillian-Butler, Tristen Russell, Camerin Robinson, Ethan Robinson, and Avery Yates; three loving sisters and one brother, Rosalind Palmer, Desmona (James) Wright, Yvette (Kevin) Mickie, Bernard (Ethel) Mitchell; one aunt, Helen Snyder; as well as a devoted friends, Lawanda Jones and Bernie Whitaker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
