Reverend Cynthia W. Jones, 64, of Charleston, S.C., entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 22, 2024.

But he said to me, "My Grace is sufficient for you, for My Strength is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12: 9.

On February 7, 1960, God in his Infinite Wisdom, created a blessing so special to Rev. Walter Jones and Mrs. Annabelle Beatrice
Parker Jones. They named her Cynthia Walter Jones and raised her in Charleston, S o u t h Carolina. While growing up in a loving and Christian home, Cynthia was introduced to Jesus Christ at an early age and later accepted Him as her Lord and Personal Savior. After traveling with her parents who were in ministry, Cynthia joined Mother Emanuel AME Church, under the pastorage of Rev. A. W. Holman. While a member of Mother Emanuel, she joined the Richard Allen Choir, as a soprano and was a Class Leader. Each position she held was very near and dear to her heart.

Cynthia was also encouraged and admonished that education is the key to success. In her early years, she attended Simonton School. She also
attended Burke High School and graduated in 1978. She was a member of the Burke High School Marching Band and was a clarinet player. Soon
after, she attended Claflin College, Orangeburg, SC and also was a member of the Claflin College Band, where she proudly played the clarinet. She graduated with high honors with a degree in English in 1982. On May 29, 1986, Cynthia became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority, Incorporated, Gamma Xi Omega Chapter. She would often say, "AKA is the only way!"

Cynthia was employed by the Charleston County Sheriff's Department as a secretary. She later transitioned to the Charleston County Disabilities
Board and chose to retire from there. Cynthia toiled for years about her calling to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She soon surrendered to Him, accepted her calling and never stopped running after Him. Cynthia preached her initial trial sermon with much power, fire and conviction. It was entitled "My Grace is sufficient for you". She attended and graduated from Erskine University for seminary and became a licensed and ordained Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Church, October 12, 2002, under Bishop Henry Belin. During her last charge she was appointment as a local Elder under the leadership of Bishop Norris.

Rev. Cynthia Jones' life could never be summed up in an obituary. She literally was an experience to behold to include loads of laughter, "going
back down memory lane" and making sure everyone in her family was fine and well-fed.

These memories will be cherished for a lifetime by her sisters, Brenda Ann Jones Davalie (the Late Emile, Sr.), Jacqueline Kathy Jones, Carla
Lynnette Jones and Waltzenia Evette Jones-Freshwater (Preston). She was preceded in death by her sister, Marsha Yvonne Jones. T h o u g h Cynthia n e v e r gave birth, s h e b i r t h e d h e r nieces a n d n e p h e w s by t h e heart, Emile LeRoy Davalie, Jr., Antigonie LaShawn Jones (goddaughter), Daphne Jacqueline Davalie, Herbert John Blakeney, Jr., Amanda Ashleigh Blakeney, Ivey "Nikki" Croker, Mahogany Holiday Lefere and Emma Gene Lefere. She has one grandniece whom she adored, Parker Beatrice Jones. She was "Aunty Hickory Stick" and taught this valuable lesson: "Manners will take you where money never will."

Fond memories will continue to be remembered by her aunts and uncles, Josiah Washington (Mildred), Evelyn Jones, Janie Clay (Marvin), Rev. Emmy B. Williams, Blondell Adams (Charles), Leroy Burnell, Eugene Burnell and David Burnell, III (Charmaine). She also leaves to mourn special friends, Rev. Leon Maxwell, Mr. Alvin Townsend, NyAsha Alexander, loving caregiver, Mrs. Denise Gayle, and a host of relatives and friends. She is now forever joined with her parents, the late Rev. Walter and Mrs. Annabelle P. B. Jones, her sister, the late Marsha Y. Jones and her "fur baby", Precious. Rev. Cynthia Jones' life will forever be epitomized by God's Grace and His Mercy. May God bless the life she lived and all whom she touched.
