REMEMBERING MYRTLE

Myrtle Brown Nesbitt passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, with the love of her daughter surrounding her. Myrtle was born in Mount Pleasant, SC on March 11, 1950, to the late Joseph and Emily Brown. She attended Laing High School.

Myrtle always had big dreams and decided to relocate to New York to live with her aunt Hattie. Through the years, she set ground in New York and Virginia before relocating back home to Charleston, SC in 1995

Myrtle went on to work as a personal family assistant/nanny and housekeeper for numerous families in the town of Mount Pleasant and she soon nestled in with the Sharpe family. There she not only shared responsibility but loved their children as if they were her own. Myrtle worked for Dr. Kenneth and Elizabeth Sharpe for over 20 years. In Myrtle's spare time, she enjoyed family, shopping, traveling, gifting others, home decor, and she created a love for handcrafting "Sweetgrass Baskets." Myrtle would take orders from the locals for different styles of baskets when she was able to leverage her hobby and create a small business. Myrtle stayed up many countless nights and sewed baskets to create a sense of comfort for herself and her children.

Myrtle gave birth to three children: Robert Tyrone Brown, Damon Andre Stith, and Sheena Monique Brown. In later years, she met Harold "Richie" Nesbitt, and they became a union in 2011.

She leaves to cherish her husband, Harold Nesbitt; two sons, Robert and Damon and a daughter Sheena (Malekia); seven loving sisters, Shirley Brown, Barbara Christian (late Bernard), Sandra Scott (Bennie), Gloria Brown, Michelle Brown, Ivena Robinson (Timothy), and Izena Brown, and sister-in-law, Leslie Brown (late Gordon). She also leaves behind a Goddaughter, Cheviole Richardson. Myrtle leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Myrtle was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Emily Brown and two brothers; Joseph Brown, Jr and Gordon Brown.
