It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melvin Le'Roy Brown, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend. Melvin departed this life on Sunday, November 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience.

Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. Melvin was a man of God and accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was a proud graduate of C. A. Brown High School (class of 1970). He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor's degree from Voorhees College, where he laid the foundation for a successful and fulfilling life.

Melvin is survived by his cherished children: LaCresha Hart (Kevin Hart); Genesha Brown; and Melvin Brown Jr. (Aisha Brown). His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: Jamirah Brown, Jeremiah Brown, Lashelle Brown, Dominique Jr., Asher Brown, Aveah Brown, and Joshua Brown each of whom brought immense joy to his life.

In addition to his immediate family, Melvin is survived by his loving siblings: Elaine Johnson, Linda Dean (Joseph Dean), and Melissa Bailey, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents Alice and James Brown, brothers, James Brown Jr. and Michael Brown, sisters Andrea Corley Velma Brown, whose spirit remains an enduring part of the family's story.

Melvin is also survived by his loving speciwith al friend Patricia Bryant. His devoted friends of many years, Peaches, Alfred, coach Earl Brown, Julia, Rounette, and Carl, who he shared amazing memories, laughter, and love, and who will deeply miss him.

Melvin was known for his faith in God, infectious laughter, and unwavering support for his family and friends. He had a passion for Jerusalem Baptist Church's Men's ministry inspired those around him, and kindness touched the lives of many. He was also a prominent Trustee Chairman, member of the male choir, master chef within the Men's cooking staff, and Sunday school member. His commitment to his family was paramount; he was a guiding light and a source of strength for all who knew him.

As we gather to celebrate the life of Melvin Le'Roy Brown, we honor a man who lived fully and loved deeply. His spirit will forever be remembered, and his legacy will continue through the generations he leaves behind.

Rest in peace, Melvin. You will be missed but never forgotten.
