Jameely Karam Moore

March 28, 1939 – April 18, 2026

Jameely Karam Moore, 87, of Edisto Island, South Carolina, beloved wife of Lieutenant Colonel Be Neely Moore, III, USAF, Retired, entered into eternal rest on April 18, 2026. Services will be held at 11:00, April 23, 2026 at New First Missionary Baptist Church,1644 Highway 174, Edisto Island, South Carolina. The family will receive friends for a repast at the church following the service.

Jameely Karam Moore was born March 28, 1939, in Corona, California, the eldest of five children of the late Joseph Jaber Karam and Mary Rashid Karam. From an early age, she demonstrated a deep commitment to learning and service to others, helping her mother raise her siblings. She graduated from St. Agnes High School in Los Angeles, California, and went on to earn her degree from Los Angeles State College. She then began a distinguished career in education and school counseling that spanned more than 40 years.

Gifted in languages from an early age, Jameely learned Arabic at her mother's knee and spoke Spanish as a young girl. Her love of language and culture continued throughout her life. She became fluent in French during her first teaching assignment in France, later picked up German while living in Germany, and even carried a touch of an English accent from her time teaching in England.

Her work took her across the United States and abroad, including teaching and school counseling            assignments in Europe, the Middle East, and a brief tour in China where she touched countless lives with her dedication, compassion, and steady guidance.

While teaching at a military base in England, she met Captain Be Moore, USAF. Their meeting marked the beginning of a devoted partnership and marriage that would span 47 years, filled with shared experiences, travel, and enduring love.

Following her retirement, Jamely and her husband made their home on Edisto Island, South Carolina. Even in retirement, she remained committed to education and community, volunteering her time at local schools and participating in outreach programs until her health no longer allowed it.

She was a proud and active member of New First Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith and fellowship were central to her life.

Jameely will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to teaching, her strength of character, and the guiding presence she offered to family and friends alike.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lieutenant Colonel Be Neely Moore III, USAF, Retired; her stepdaughter, Alexia Moore Eaglin; her sisters, Theresa Marie Karam and Margaret Josephine Karam; her nephew Jalem Michael Getz; and a host of extended family, friends, and former students whose lives she enriched. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph David Karam, and her sister, Martha Jane Karam.
