Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson was born on February 1, 1964, in Charleston, SC. Her parents were, the late Mrs. Sarah F. Holmes Johnson and the late Mr. James C. Johnson. Her mother taught her to always try to do her best. She instilled in her the will to succeed and was her main supporter. Her mother worked diligently to take care of her four children.  Mr. Louis Johnson, Ms. Deborah Johnson, Mrs. Jamie Wells and Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson.

Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson is the mother of Mr. Jacoby Johnson. Her motivation and "pride and joy." Jacqueline was educated in the Charleston County School District 20 downtown schools at Burke High School was elected the Student Council President her freshmen year. She earned Honor Roll recognition throughout her years at Burke High School. One of her proudest moments was being was elected as the recipient of the "Most School Spirited Award" during her senior year. She was a proud member of the "Class of 1982."

Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson continued her education at SC State College now known as SC State University earning a B.A. in Mathematics. While at SC State University Jacqueline was elected the Student Council Class President her freshman year. Upon graduating from SC State University, she began her career as a substitute teacher. In a short period of time, she gained employment as a Math teacher at Rivers Middle School, the Ninth Grade Academy and Burke High School. While at Rivers Middle School, she served as the Step Team Advisor, the Algebra Project Coordinator, as well as the Computer Lab Protector. Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson was also selected as the "Employee of the Year" while working at Rivers Middle School.

While at Burke High School, she served as the Cheerleader Advisor, Math Chairperson and was selected as the "Teacher of the Year."  Ms Johnson also received the "Number 1 Burke Fan School Spirit Award."  You'd find her in the stands at the football and basketball games cheering for the players. Her cheering truly got the fans involved and inspired the players. Her support for the students attending Burke High school was evident through her donations of water bottles, T-shirts and Burke paraphernalia even after she no longer worked at Burke High School.

Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson is a member of Morris Brown AME Church, Rev. Dr. James E. Keeton is the pastor. While attending Morris Brown AME, she was a member of the Missionary Unit and sang on the Gospel Choir. Being a Missionary was very fulfilling for her especially since she truly loved helping others. Singing on the Gospel Choir, traveling to other churches and being able to listen to music and fellowship with others were very some of her most rewarding experiences. Those who knew her knew that she loved music especially music with uplifting tempos and African beats. Her son, Jacoby Johnson, inherited her love of music and often creates musical compositions with upbeat African beats and uplifting tempos. He also enjoys supports Burke High School's numerous activities and events. Jacoby also attends SC State University where his mother left her footprints.

Through the years Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson's medical conditions limited her mobility and her career in the field Education changed however her determination to accomplish her goals remained constant. After no longer working as a classroom teacher, she continued to tutor her students, the children of her former students and other adults preparing for college entrance exams, graduate schools and military exams. Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson also continued to further her education by earning postsecondary graduate credits. Some of her former students would search for her and wouldn't give up until they contacted her so that she could help them in numerous ways because they knew that she truly cared about them. They knew that she could help their children earn the Honor Roll and other recognitions. Several of her former students, now adults, became a part of her extended family. One of her students recently sent a text acknowledging that Ms. Johnson taught her a lot, encouraged her to show respect for herself and told her to never give up. That student recently earned her Nursing degree and is a parent herself. Another student sent a text thanking her for not allowing bullying in her classroom nor teasing. She understood how it felt to look or be different.

Jacqueline could look at a picture and just draw it. Her arts and crafts were numerous, different and well done. You could see her artistic creativity in her choice of fashions. Colorful, current and very pretty. You'd find her latest creations and/or fashions on Facebook. She often donated her artistic creations to others along with other items to the underserved.

Ms. Jacqueline C. Johnson had just received Communion a little over a week before transitioning. A family friend was talking with her and said, " Okay. You take care. Good talking to You." The call didn't disconnect right away, and Jackie was heard singing and thanking God for saving her. "To God Be the Glory and Honor"

Thank you to everyone who were her true friends, enjoyed her laughter and the good times with her.  She was quite a salesperson, an avid Facebook user and had a "gift of gab."  Your friendship and support were appreciated.
