Obituary

Ms. Gardena D. Pinckney, 70, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Friday April 19, 2024.

Gardena Devona Pinckney, daughter of the late Estelle Walker Schaffer was born March 08, 1954, in Charleston S.C. Her mother, Estelle and brother Calvin Leroy Pinckney preceded Gardena in death. Although she never had any children of her own, she raised Derrick Williams (grandnephew) from an infant. Gardena received her education in the public school of Charleston County and graduated from Burke High School in 1973.

At an early age, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined Nichols Chapel AME Church in Charleston. Gardena love meeting people so she embarked on a career in food service. She worked at the Mills House as a server and then a supervisor for a number of years. Because of her expertise in decoration and arranging tables, she was offering a job at the Radisson Hotel as the head buffet supervisor until her health failed.

To Her family, Gardena known as "Denie" the great debater who often had all the correct answers. She loved her family and would do whatever it took, to make sure that everyone had what they needed. The closeness of her family was one she cherished. She would tell anyone who would listen about the love she had for her family and was very thankful to God for allowing her to be in such a loving family.

She will be greatly miss by her sisters, Lorraine Canady, Shirley Hughes, Benita Holmes, Catrice Smalls and Emma Jean Grudger of Jacksonville, Fl. Her brothers, Carlos Pinckney (Nakeeca) and Lonnie Pinckney. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends
