Ms. Deborah Jean Higgins, 76, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
The relatives and friends of Ms. Deborah Jean Higgins are invited to attend her Graveside Service on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC.
Deborah Jean Higgins of Charlotte, North Carolina, died on August 21, 2025. Deborah was born on January 12, 1949, in Charleston, South Carolina, in the Maryville/Ashleyville Community.
Deborah was baptized at a young age at First Baptist Church in West Ashley, Charleston, SC.
Deborah attended Wallace High School and graduated as Valedictorian with the Class of 1965. After high school, she attended Talladega College in Alabama and graduated with honors in 1969. While at Talladega, Deborah became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Chi Chapter. Deborah later attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she received a master's degree in mathematics in 1970.
Deborah worked at IBM for 25 years, where she enjoyed traveling across the United States and around the world to teach IBM customers and employees. After leaving IBM, Deborah moved to Charlotte, where she was employed at what is now Wells Fargo Bank.
Deborah was predeceased by her parents, Hazel Grant Higgins and Stephen Higgins; her brother, Dr. Earl Bernard Higgins, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Lavell Higgins.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her sister, Marsha Higgins of Charleston, SC; her nephew, Earl Bernard Higgins, Jr. (Lita); her grandnephew, Earl Bernard Higgins, III (also known as Trey); and her grandniece, Victoria Higgins, all of Fairfax Station, VA; a special cousin, Tyrone Grant of Charlotte, NC; along with several other aunts, cousins, and friends.
