Mr. Curtiss Vincent Sumner, 47, of Summerville, SC, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
Mr. Sumner served as the Media Executive Director at Voorhees University, Denmark, SC.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Curtiss Vincent Sumner will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 12:00 NOON in Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 400 East Main Street, Carbondale, IL. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, 1100 North Oakland Avenue, Carbondale, IL. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 NOON at the church.

The Life and Times of Curtiss Vincent Sumner
Curtiss Vincent Sumner was surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June15, 2024, when he was called home to be with the Lord.
Curtiss was born October 2, 1976, in Carbondale, Illinois, his forever place. He received his early education in Carbondale then he moved to Arkansas where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He then moved to South Carolina in 1999 and made his home there.
Curtiss began his career at Voorhees University and continued working on his master's degree, there he met Kiersten "Kat" Tolbert, and they became close forever siblings. During his time at Voorhees, he was blessed with a son, Vincent Sumner, whom he cherished and adored.
Curtiss worked his way up from the Radio station to Media Arts director and was promoted to Director Web & Broadcast Media Services in August 2023. Needless to be said, Curtiss loved his job.
Curtiss leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Cheri (King) Godwin; sisters, Christine (Donnie) Williams, Kiersten Tolbert, Ebony Wheaton, and Makenzie Sumner; brother, Phillip (Alicia) Godwin, sons, Vincent, Scotty, and Jaycen. He also leaves behind his father, Curtiss (Consetta) Sumner; aunt, Clara Holmes; nephews, Devin Tolbert, Deandre (Tareva) Williams, Darius Williams, Terry Williams, Damion Godwin; nieces, Kayona Williams, Rasheena (Kyle) Delaney, Candice Williams, Kierra Godwin, and Kaylee Godwin; two grandnephews, and a host of cousins, uncles and other relatives and friends.
Curtiss will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
