With hearts both heavy and grateful, we honor the life and love of Ms. Claudette Ruth Givens Edwards, who peacefully transitioned from this life in the quiet stillness of the night on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Born on March 14, 1942, in Green Pond, South Carolina, she was the cherished firstborn of Beatrice Myers Givens and the late Deacon Leroy Givens Sr.

A woman of grace, faith, and a quiet demeanor, Ms. Edwards was a 1959 graduate of Bonds Wilson High School, a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Charleston, and a testament to resilience, love, and steadfast devotion to her family. She was the beloved mother of the late Theodore Robert Givens, Daniel Matthew Edwards Jr., Marcus Antonio Edwards, and Avril Sherice Edwards, each of whom carries a piece of her enduring spirit.

As we mourn her earthly departure, we also celebrate the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who knew her. Funeral arrangements are being handled with care by Murray's Mortuary in partnership with AD Givens Funeral Services.
