On August 12, 2025, Deaconess Beatrice S. Pinckney, 91, went home to be with the Lord. In the words of 2 Timothy 4:7, she fought the good fight, ran her race, and kept her faith. She transitioned peacefully at home on James Island, South Carolina with her devoted husband of 73 years, Charles Pinckney, by her side.

Beatrice Pinckney was born ninety-one years ago in Ridgeland, South Carolina to the late Garfield and Anna Bolan Smith. She was the youngest of thirteen children. Beatrice and Charles were blessed with six children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was an active member of Jerusalem Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She served as a Deaconess, a member of the Missionary Society and the choir. Beatrice Pinckney retired from the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center as a Dietetic Supervisor, with more than 30 years of outstanding service, for which she received numerous high-performance awards.
